The Valley GI Advantage

Nationally Recognized and Accredited

Valley Endoscopy Center is accredited by Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and certified by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). Valley Endoscopy Center is one of only two ASGE cerfitied facilities in West Virginia and the only facility in region to have achieved dual certifications. Our physicians are nationally ranked in several patient care outcomes and quality measures. We are among the top in the nation in adenoma detection rate, an important measure of quality and efficacy of colonoscopy. Clinical studies have shown that high adenoma detection rate reduces the risk of developing colon cancer and colon cancer mortality by over 40%. Our physicians hold leadership positions in national professional organizations. Dr. Ratnakar serves as the Governor of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and is a member of the ASGE task force on Innovations in Endoscopy.

Convenient Care

With seven locations throughout the Ohio Valley we are never far away.  This ensures that your patients can schedule an appointment at their convenience close to home.

Continuity of Care

As a physician you know that having a patient's complete medical history can be critical; it saves time, effort and avoids duplication of tests. Fortunately, Valley GI provides inpatient consultative and endoscopic services at virtually all hospitals in the Ohio valley.  This means that regardless of where your patients are admitted, we will be there to see them and deliver an unbroken plan of care.

Advanced Care

Simply put, Valley GI is the region's leader in providing the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal care.  Not only do we perform a high volume of ERCPs, but our group has historically been on the forefront of introducing important technological advancements to the Ohio Valley.  Examples include HALO ablation for Barrett's esophagus, PillCam video capsule endoscopy, BRAVO esophageal pH monitoring, non-surgical painless hemorrhoidal therapies, endoluminal stenting, biologic treatments for inflammatory bowel disease and latest treatments for liver diseases.

Focus on Geriatric GI

The elderly population encompasses a special subset of adult medicine because their disease processes can differ markedly from those of other adults.  Valley Gastroenterology is uniquely qualified in this regard because our medical knowledge includes fellowship training and board certification in geriatric medicine.  We put this knowledge to work every day to provide the highest quality care to our senior patients.

Comfort, Safety and Quality in Endoscopy

To maximize patient comfort during procedures at the Valley Endoscopy Center, we use propofol sedation and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with over 30 years of experience and special training in endoscopic sedation.  In fact, virtually all of Valley Endoscopy Center patients rate their endoscopy as "pain free". Because we meticulously track numerous measures of quality, we can boast that our adenoma detection rates, cecal intubation rates and safety record are among the top in the nation.
