National Accreditation and Recognition


Our physicians are ranked among the top in the nation in patient care outcomes and quality measures. We are ranked among the top in the nation in adenoma detection rate, an important measure of quality and efficacy of colonoscopy. Clinical studies have shown that high adenoma detection rate reduces the risk of colon cancer and death from colon cancer by over 40%. Physicians at Valley Gastroenterology and Endoscopy hold national and state leadership positions. Dr. Ratnakar serves as the Governor of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and is a member of the task force of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) on Innovations in Endoscopy. 

 

Our endsocopy services have as been accreditated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and certified by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). Accreditation distinguishes Valley Endoscopy from other outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. Status as an accredited organization means Valley Endoscopy has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care. Valley Endoscopy is the only facility of its kind in the Ohio Valley that is AAAHC and ASGE certified. We are one of only two facilites in West Virginia that is certified by the ASGE.  Accreditation means that premier independent not-for-profit organizations have closely examined our facility and procedures. It means we as an organization care enough about our patients to strive for the highest level of care possibleAmbulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services. Going through the process challenged us to find better ways to serve our patients and it is a constant reminder that our responsibility is to strive to continuously improve the quality of care we provide.
